The restricted area is the Mornington Shire and includes all public and private places.
No alcohol is allowed in the Mornington Shire area, including home-brewed alcohol and home-brew equipment.
There are two licensed premises: Birri Fishing Lodge and Sweers Island Resort. Both of these premises can only sell alcohol to guests. Birri Fishing Lodge can also serve alcohol with a meal in their restaurant and has a limited public bar trade.
Maximum penalties for possessing alcohol in the Mornington Shire:
Vehicles found carrying alcohol in the restricted area may be confiscated.
It is also an offence to attempt to bring alcohol into the restricted area. The maximum penalty is $37,500.
